Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Koo Yun-cheol, is departing for Washington, USA today to attend the G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting.

Separately from the finance ministers’ meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Koo plans to meet with the US Treasury Secretary to continue negotiations on tariffs.

Attention is focused on whether a breakthrough can be found in the tariff negotiations, which have been in a stalemate, as the US side has proposed a new alternative instead of the existing $350 billion cash payment.

The special investigation team, probing the rebellion and treason allegations related to the December 3 Martial Law, will summon Cho Tae-yong, the former NIS Director, as a suspect today for questioning.

The ‘Rebellion’ special investigation team has notified former Director Cho to appear for questioning twice, today and on the 17th.

Former Director Cho is accused of being involved in the overall situation before and after the martial law.

Today, Chungcheongbuk-do will install a memorial plaque at the site of the Osong disaster, the Gungpyeong 2 Underpass, to commemorate the victims.

This memorial plaque couldn’t be installed earlier due to opposition from some local residents, but Governor Kim Young-hwan personally met with the residents to persuade them.

The memorial plaque measures 6 meters in width and 30 cm in height, with the words “Path of Memory for the Victims of the Osong Disaster” engraved on it.
