[Herald Economy=Yeonjoo Jang Reporter] KBS drama ‘The Moon Rises in the River,’ in which actor Jisoo played the lead role but withdrew due to allegations of ‘school violence,’ resulted in a court ruling that Jisoo’s agency should compensate the production company with around 1.4 billion won.

The Seoul Central District Court Civil Conciliation Division 31 (Presiding Judge Sangwoo Kim) ruled in favor of the production company Victory Contents in the damage compensation lawsuit filed against Jisoo’s former agency KeyEast, ordering them to pay “about 14.2 billion won and delayed interest” to the plaintiff.

The specific reasons for the ruling were not explained in court.

Previously, in March 2021, when KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘The Moon Rises in the River’ had aired up to episode 6, allegations of school violence against Jisoo, who played the male lead On Dal, surfaced.

Jisoo immediately admitted to some of the bullying allegations and voluntarily withdrew. At that time, filming was already completed up to episode 18 out of 20.

The production company replaced Jisoo with Na Inwoo from episode 7 onwards and re-filmed the drama, even re-shooting episodes 1-6 when the drama regained stability.

Subsequently, Victory Contents filed a lawsuit against KeyEast, Jisoo’s former agency at the time, demanding 3 billion won for additional production costs due to the re-shooting, resulting in this partial victory in the lawsuit.
