Starting today, the pilot project ‘Dementia Management Primary Care Physician’ begins.

“A pilot project for ‘dementia management attending physicians’ to support personalized dementia management is starting.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced today that it will start a pilot project called ‘Dementia Management Attending Physician’ from now on, where dementia patients living in the local community can receive treatment not only for dementia but also for overall health conditions from dementia management attending physicians.

This project involves dementia management attending physicians assessing the patient’s condition, creating a personalized comprehensive plan, and providing face-to-face consultations and non-face-to-face management on dementia diseases and management methods regularly.

Furthermore, it is planned to provide both disease-related welfare services and welfare support in connection with medical welfare services in the local community.

The service cost of the pilot project will apply a separate fee in addition to the medical expenses, and dementia patients can receive management for both dementia and other health issues by bearing 20% of the service cost.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to implement the pilot project for two years, with 182 doctors participating from 143 medical institutions in 22 local governments in the first pilot project. For the second pilot project, they plan to expand the participating regions and doctors.
