The YouTuber Kara Kula, who is under suspicion of threatening Tsuyang, has been confirmed to have deleted approximately 60 videos following the controversy. Kara Kula, accused of encouraging other YouTubers to attack Tsuyang and extorting millions of won from other individual broadcasters, has remained silent on clarifying the suspicions and instead has been deleting videos.
As of the 10th, Kara Kula had uploaded a total of 490 videos to her YouTube channel, but as of noon on the 19th, the number of uploaded videos decreased to 425. Approximately 65 videos were either deleted or made private, with 5 videos being removed or made private just on the 19th.
During the same period, Kara Kula’s subscriber count plummeted drastically. Prior to the controversy (as of the 10th), Kara Kula had 1.29 million subscribers, but as of the 19th, that number had dropped to 1.08 million, resulting in a loss of 210,000 subscribers.
YouTube Korea has prohibited revenue generation for Kara Kula and other YouTubers affiliated with the “Rekka Alliance” like Gujeyeok and Jeongukjin. They engaged in behaviors detrimental to the YouTube community outside of the YouTube platform and faced this decision as a result.
Kara Kula was reported to the police on charges of tampering with evidence by manipulating a recorded conversation on the 19th and obstructing the work of the Garrow Research Institute by spreading false information.
Separately, regarding allegations of extorting money from other individual broadcasters, including Gujeyeok and Jeongukjin, further investigations are expected to unfold after a recorded conversation was made public.
Attorney John Jae-un of the law firm ‘Jonzai’ stated, “Regarding the sentencing of defamation, due to factors such as the continuity and wide-reaching impact of the infringement including views, it appears that the videos were deleted to avoid actual imprisonment,” and added, “Many Rekka YouTubers have frequently exhibited such behaviors before sentencing, and Kara Kula proactively responded to the situation.”
Recently, it was reported that Kara Kula had taken down the sign of her office located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, raising suspicions about whether she was trying to hide. The building also houses the office of attorney Cheon Hoseong of the law firm Discovery, who conducts YouTube broadcasts on various legal matters.
In relation to this, attorney Cheon Hoseong explained on his YouTube channel on the 17th that the removal of Kara Kula’s office sign was due to surrounding YouTubers and BJs gathering around the building, causing inconvenience to nearby merchants.
