, President Joe Biden of the United States admitted that his statement about “putting Trump in the bullseye” was a mistake.
According to foreign media on the 15th (local time), in an interview with NBC News where excerpts were released, President Biden stated that using the term ‘bullseye’ was a mistake.
President Biden had previously said “It’s time to put Trump in the bullseye” during a conversation with donors on the 8th. This statement was interpreted as focusing on attacking the opponent rather than dealing with pressures to drop out of the re-election race due to age-related health and cognitive decline concerns following a poor performance in a TV debate on the 27th last month.
However, with the recent event of former President Trump being shot at during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on the 13th, Biden’s statement resurfaced. Republican officials and Trump supporters strongly criticized President Biden, claiming that his remarks directly incited an assassination attempt on the former President.
