(Suwon=Yonhap News) According to the Gyeonggi Province, emergency livelihood support payments for all 31 victims, including families of the deceased and injured, from the Hwaseong Arisel factory fire have been finalized on the 16th.
Families of the 23 deceased victims will receive 5.5 million won each, 2 seriously injured individuals will receive 3.67 million won each, and 6 minor injury victims will receive 1.83 million won each, totaling 1,448.2 million won.
The payments for the injured were made from the 4th to the 8th, while for families of the deceased facing difficulties in determining priority, the payments were completed by the ‘Hwaseong Factory Fire Accident Victims Emergency Livelihood Support Review Committee’ by the 15th.
Providing emergency livelihood support to families of the victims and the injured in response to a social disaster is unprecedented for both local governments and the central government.
The province plans to actively pursue indemnity claims for various support costs, including airfares and living expenses, depending on the company’s liability.
