Foreign tourists visiting Seoul stay an average of 6 days and spend 284,000 won on average.

Foreign tourists who visited Seoul last year stayed an average of about 6 days and spent 2.84 million won, according to a survey conducted by the Seoul Tourism Foundation. The survey, which targeted over 1,600 foreign visitors to Seoul, revealed that tourists stayed an average of 6.05 days and spent an average of 2.84 million won, including airfare. This is an increase from the average stay of 5.11 days and spending of 1.89 million won before the onset of COVID-19 in 2019. The proportion of tourists from nearby Asian countries among all visitors decreased, while long-distance tourists from Europe and the Americas increased, leading to increased spending and length of stay. The survey also found that foreign tourists visiting Seoul mainly engaged in culinary tourism (97.4%) and most visited historical sites and palaces (70.4%). The most visited areas were Myeongdong (85.9%), Hongdae (52.8%), and Gangnam (45.9%). Overall satisfaction among foreign tourists visiting Seoul has been increasing steadily, from 4.25 points out of 5 in 2018 to 4.34 points in 2019, and 4.53 points last year.
