Korean Aerospace Research Institute Holds Meeting with Satellite Companies [Science Board]

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) announced that on the afternoon of the 12th, they held a meeting with representatives from artificial satellite companies at the KARI office in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do. Attendees included Yoon Young-bin, the head of KARI, John Lee, Head of the Space Aerospace Mission Division at KARI, Noh Kyung-won, and other key officials from KARI. Representatives from about ten satellite-related companies such as Nara Space, Satrec Initiative, SolpTop, AP Satellite, LIG Nex1, ZENOCO, Gestech, KT Sat, Korea Aerospace Industries, Hancom InSpace, and Hanwha Systems were also present. Director Yoon emphasized the importance of continuous communication with the field to enable faster growth in the satellite industry.

On the same day, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced that they will be hosting the ‘KAIST Bio Healthcare International Symposium’ on the 13th at COEX in Seoul. The event, organized by the KAIST Startup Institute to support bio-healthcare startups, will include participation from global bio companies such as Sanofi, Novartis, and Merck. Overseas speakers are expected to introduce strategies for attracting global investments for bio startups and ways to enhance company value.

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced on the 12th that they have signed a business agreement with Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province to nurture specialized talents in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and secondary batteries, and to promote the development of future strategic technologies in the region. The agreement, attended by GIST President Lim Ki-cheol and Gwangyang Mayor Jung In-hwa, covers areas such as talent cultivation, joint utilization of research facilities and equipment, and fostering outstanding companies.

The National Science Museum announced that they have been conducting a free public lecture series called ‘Star Science Special Lecture’ on the third Saturday of each month since March. In March, there was a lecture by Lee Kwang-hyung, President of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and this month, a lecture concert by Lee Seung-hoon, the national representative for stunt flying with paper airplanes, will take place. The National Research Council for Science & Technology announced that they will be hosting the ‘2024 National Research Institute-Industry Tech Biz Partnering’ event at COEX on the 13th and 14th, where government-funded research institutions and companies will engage in technology exchange and partnership activities. This event, now in its 7th year, will feature technology matching and exhibitions for the industrial application of excellent technologies held by national research institutes, as well as startup pitching stages. A total of 19 research institutes will showcase 133 promising commercialization technologies in 12 key national strategic technology areas.
