Seoul Metropolitan Government to operate a ‘Mud Balloon’ emergency response team…24-hour response system

During the night, North Korea scattered anti-South leaflets and waste balloons towards the South, prompting the city of Seoul to install an early response team for citizen protection.

The city operated a 24-hour situation room in coordination with the Capital Defense Headquarters, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters to monitor and respond to the situation in real-time.

According to the city, a total of 92 reports were received from across Seoul from last night (1st) 9 p.m. to today (2nd) 3 p.m. regarding the discovery of balloons, anti-South leaflets, and waste garbage. The city explained that upon receiving resident reports, the police were dispatched to control access to the scene and collaborated with military authorities to collect the items.
