Another disaster occurred in the Danube River in Hungary, where a large number of Korean tourists were killed… 2 people died.

In the Danube River in Hungary, a tragic accident occurred when two boats collided, resulting in 2 deaths and 5 people missing. The Danube River was the site of a previous incident in May 2019 where 25 Korean tourists died in a boat sinking accident.

According to reports from foreign media outlets such as The Guardian on the 19th, the accident occurred near the city of Verőce, about 50 km north of Budapest, the capital of Hungary, on the afternoon of the 18th (local time) when two boats collided. As a result of this accident, 2 people died and 5 are still missing, with the police conducting search operations.

Hungarian police have confirmed finding the bodies of one man and one woman during the search process immediately after the accident. Local police believe that a boat owned by a hotel and a small boat were involved in the collision. They are investigating whether the individuals involved in the operation of the boats failed to predict the danger of the accident and take appropriate measures.

In May 2019, a sightseeing boat carrying 33 people, including Korean tourists and guides, set out on a evening tour of the Danube River but collided with a large cruise ship, resulting in the death of 25 Koreans. The captain of the cruise ship, who was held responsible for the accident, was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison last year.
