The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 20th that it participated in the World Bank Land Conference held in Washington D.C., USA on the 16th. The ministry held a meeting with the World Bank, the UK Foreign Office, and the Ford Foundation to establish an international cooperation land program for climate change response in Washington D.C. The conference, organized by the World Bank, took place during the World Bank Land Conference period from the 13th to the 17th. The conference aims to address poverty issues faced by underdeveloped countries and international efforts to respond to climate change through ensuring individual land ownership rights. The international cooperation land program is being pursued to support economic growth and poverty alleviation by modernizing land administration and achieve sustainable development. The participants emphasized the importance of the participation of World Bank member countries and shared this through the entire session with participating countries. In terms of technical advice, performance analysis, and fundraising, discussions will take place considering individual country situations. Additionally, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport signed a Record of Discussions (ROD) with Indonesia for the transfer of technology and expertise in the field of cadastral survey to establish a new foundation for future cooperation between the two countries. The signing of the Record of Discussions was aimed at initiating concrete discussions on cadastral survey and land sector cooperation following the World Bank Land Conference. At the conference, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport shared successful examples of cadastral survey and introduced Korea’s advanced cadastral system and technology to the world. They also expanded opportunities for overseas advancement of Korean cadastral technology through bilateral meetings with high-level officials from Indonesia’s Ministry of Spatial Planning and Land Office, Colombia’s Geographic Institute (IGAC), and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Urban Development to discuss the direction of future cooperation.
