It has been confirmed that trot singer Kim Ho-jung (33, in the photo) immediately moved to a hotel in Guri, Gyeonggi Province after causing a contact accident on the 9th.
According to the police on the 16th, Kim drove a car on a road in Gangnam-gu, Seoul around 11:40 pm on the 9th and caused an accident with an oncoming taxi. He then used the company car to go to a hotel near Guri, Gyeonggi-do. This was in accordance with the instructions from Lee Kwang-deok, the representative of Kim’s agency, Think Entertainment, who told a manager to take Kim to a place far away from Seoul to get some rest together.
One of the managers who was at the scene of the accident drove the vehicle to Gyeonggi-do. Kim reportedly arrived at the hotel around 1:50 am on the 10th. Meanwhile, another manager who changed clothes with Kim falsely confessed that he was the one driving and attending in Gangnam.
Kim appeared for police investigation around 4:30 pm on the 10th, about 17 hours after the accident. It was also revealed that the memory card of the black box of Kim’s missing vehicle was removed from the accident site by an employee under the direction of the agency representative. The representative stated that Kim visited an adult entertainment establishment before the accident but did not drink.
According to the CCTV footage near the accident site that was revealed on that day, Kim parked the vehicle about 200m away from the accident site about 5 minutes after the accident occurred. After getting out of the car, Kim put one hand in his pocket, made a call, and walked around. The police are investigating the possibility of the agency’s cover-up of the incident.
On the same day around 6:35 pm, the police carried out a search and seizure of Kim’s and the representative’s residence as well as Kim’s agency. The police are investigating Kim for violations of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take action after the accident) and have also applied the suspicion of fleeing the scene under the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes.
