Japan’s government has expressed its position on the visit to Dokdo by the leader of the National Revolutionary Party, saying that it will respond firmly and resolutely to protect its territory, territorial waters, and airspace.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Hayashi, who is the government spokesperson, commented on the visit to Dokdo by the party leader during a press conference on the afternoon of the 13th local time. He stated, “‘Takeshima’ (the Japanese name for Dokdo) is Japan’s inherent territory from a historical and international law perspective.”

On the same day, the party leader visited Dokdo and released a statement criticizing the Moon Jae-in administration’s diplomacy towards Japan as ‘appeasement diplomacy.’

The statement also included content asserting the government’s diplomatic failure in relation to the recent ‘Line Yahoo Saga’ triggered by the Japanese government’s administrative direction.
