Universities are reviewing special regulations and grade restrictions to prevent medical students from taking a leave of absence.

In order to prevent a situation where many medical students who are refusing classes in protest against the increased number of medical school students are being given failing grades, universities have come up with preventive measures such as considering the establishment of special regulations.

So far, education plans submitted to the Ministry of Education by 37 medical schools regarding academic operations include measures such as considering the establishment of temporary special regulations exempting failing grade standards for the first semester, or transitioning to operating the curriculum on a semester-by-semester basis.

For first-year medical students, the action plan includes measures such as increasing the maximum credit hours for completing seasonal courses when students return.

Some universities have suggested adjusting the schedule for the national licensing examination, which is set to take place in September, to the government, and the Ministry of Education plans to discuss measures with relevant ministries.
