Chairman Seong Il Jong dismissed the opposition’s criticism that the recent high-level prosecutor appointments were aimed at covering up the investigation of Kim Gun-hee, calling it an “impossible structure.”
Chairman Seong Il Jong said on today’s SBS Radio show, ‘Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show,’ “Appointments are routine, and just because they say it’s to cover up the investigation, does that mean it will actually be covered up? The investigation into Kim Gun-hee will proceed as planned.”
In addition, Rep. Lee Cheol-kyu also emphasized that it is an “impossible structure” on MBC Radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus,’ saying, “Just because the investigation has started and there is a change in the prosecutor, it does not mean the investigation will be stopped or distorted.”
Rep. Hong Seok-jun, appearing on BBS Radio’s ‘Jeon Young-shin’s Morning Journal,’ criticized the Democratic Party, saying, “The stories told by the Democratic Party are criticisms for the sake of criticism,” and asked, “Did the Democratic Party say the appointments of Yoon Seok-youl as prosecutor general and Song Kyung-ho as chief prosecutor of Seoul were well-made appointments when they were first made?”
However, Emergency Response Council Member Kim Yong-tae, on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,’ said, “I am aware that regular appointments have been made after the general election, and the concerns are something that the Blue House or the prosecution should be aware of,” pointing out, “Given the significant concerns raised by the media and the public, the prosecution should demonstrate a fairer investigative approach.”
