The Financial Supervisory Service announced the trends in foreign securities investment for April.
According to the report, foreign investors made net purchases of KOSPI stocks worth 3.6 trillion won, while net sales of KOSDAQ stocks amounted to 1 trillion won. In total, foreign investors net purchased domestic stocks worth 2.626 trillion won last month.
In the stock market, foreigners made net purchases of 3.649 trillion won in the main exchange and net sales of 1.24 trillion won in the KOSDAQ market. The U.S. (3.5 trillion won) and Ireland (300 billion won) were among the countries that made net purchases, while Canada (-700 billion won) and Germany (-400 billion won) were among those that made net sales.
As of the end of last month, the total market value of stocks held by foreign investors stood at 802.5 trillion won, accounting for 28.9% of the total market capitalization. In the bond market, foreign investors made net investments of 2.573 trillion won, and their total holdings in listed bonds amounted to 247.2 trillion won, which is about 9.7% of the total listed balance.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated that foreign investors have been making net purchases of stocks for the sixth consecutive month and have turned to net investments in bonds within just one month.
