Kim Min-jeon, a proportional representative of the People Power Party, proposed the idea of calling for a special investigation on the three women named Kim involved in controversies. These women are Kim Hye-kyung, who is suspected of using a corporate card, and Kim Jung-suk, who is under suspicion for using 50,000 won banknote sheets sent by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to the Bank of Korea. Kim Min-jeon suggested that instead of accepting the opposition’s demand for a special investigation on Kim Gun-hee, the wife of Yoon Seok-young, President of the People Power Party, they should propose a special investigation on the “3 Kims” to the Democratic Party leadership.
Kim Min-jeon stated on social media on the 7th that he wants to urge President Yoon Seok-young and the People Power Party leadership to consider carrying out a special investigation on Kim Kyung-hee, who is suspected of embezzlement of national funds amounting to at least 300 million won through luxury goods, as well as on Kim Jung-suk for the suspicion of collecting clothes and accessories using banknote sheets and the whereabouts of these items.
He compared the situation to the case of a special investigation launched against a group named “Drunking” that manipulated online comments during the 2017 presidential election, highlighting the need for fairness in carrying out investigations. Kim Min-jeon also brought up other events where special investigations were not conducted despite potential wrongdoing, questioning the discrepancies in the treatment of different cases.
Additionally, Kim Min-jeon referenced the case of a public official who was shot and killed in North Korean waters and criticized the government’s handling of the situation. He also mentioned the need for consistent criteria in determining when special investigations should be launched, pointing out inconsistencies in past decisions.
