KT celebrated its 102nd Children’s Day by hosting a classical concert for employees and their families at the Seoul Arts Center on May 4. The event, titled ‘Heartfelt Classical Concert’, was attended by around 650 people. KT has been conducting this cultural sharing initiative for employees’ families since 2021, featuring classical music performances and various events as part of a matinee concert held on weekday mornings.
KT specifically changed the concert time to Saturday morning to accommodate employees with young children who found it difficult to attend on weekdays. During the concert, KT provided surprise gifts such as bubble sticks to the employees’ children and also arranged a photo time with actors dressed as characters from a fairy tale, receiving a positive response from the attendees.
One attendee, Mr. Park Hee-jin, shared his impression of the concert, saying, “The concert guides’ explanations, which incorporated the history and behind-the-scenes of classical music pieces, made it easy to listen and felt like watching a fairytale.”
Furthermore, KT has been actively engaging in various activities to promote cultural sharing. Since 2009, they have held over 300 performances of ‘Saturday Afternoon Chamber Music’, showcasing high-quality classical music performances to customers. The ‘Heartfelt Classical’ concert held at the Seoul Arts Center every last Friday of the month has also been well-received by over 40,000 audience members during its 34 events.
In addition to these efforts, KT has been practicing meaningful cultural sharing activities, such as inviting visually impaired individuals to the ‘Heartfelt Classical’ concerts since 2014 and providing a dedicated space at the Seoul Arts Center for them to socialize after the performance. They also conduct ‘Lunch Concert’ events with young artists from the startup ‘Bravi’, reaching various regions nationwide and providing relaxation to employees during lunchtime through classical music performances.
KT’s ESG Executive Director, Oh Tae-sung, expressed his hopes that KT’s cultural sharing initiatives over the past 15 years will contribute positively to the cultural arts sponsorship activities in South Korea. He emphasized the company’s commitment to establishing a genuine and happy corporate culture program that involves both employees’ families and customers and vowed to make continued efforts in this direction.
