The east gate of the Great Hall of the People faces Tiananmen Square, and the welcoming ceremonies for visits by several national leaders have been held there since early this year. It is expected that President Xi will greet President Trump at the east gate square.
The welcoming ceremony includes the arrival of the state vehicle, a gun salute, and greetings by children with national flags and bouquets. Following this, a military band will play the national anthems of both countries, and the leaders of both nations will inspect the honor guard of the People’s Liberation Army. President Trump had previously expressed a deep impression about how the height of the honor guard soldiers was identical during his visit to China nine years ago.
