Daejeon Mayor Candidate Registration: “Fostering Daejeon as a World-Class Economic City”
[Daegu=NEWSIS] On May 14, People’s Power Daejeon mayoral candidate Lee Jang-woo completed his official candidate registration with the Daejeon Election Commission.
Reporter Kwak Sang-hoon reports that on the 14th, Lee, a candidate from People’s Power, visited the Daejeon Election Commission to register as an official candidate for the 9th nationwide local simultaneous elections, launching his full-scale election campaign.
After registering in the morning, candidate Lee stated, “This election will be a contest between competent and incompetent candidates,” adding, “It will be a showdown between those with a grand vision for the development of Daejeon and those without, and essentially a judgment on the incumbent Mayor Huh Tae-jung of the Democratic Party, whose governance was repeatedly flawed during his term.”
Candidate Lee continued, “I intend to transform Daejeon into a world-class economic city based on seven strategic industries: ABCDEQR (Aerospace, Bio, Semiconductors, Defense, Energy, Quantum, and Robot/Drone/Sensor/AI), making it the first city to enter an era of a national income of 40,000 dollars and join the ‘100·200 club,'” indicating his ambition to nurture Daejeon into a city with 100 listed companies headquartered there and a market capitalization of 200 trillion won.
He also plans a campaign focused on tailored pledges addressing Daejeon’s five districts, followed by an intense focus on livelihoods.
