The Board of Audit and Inspection’s audit of the COVID-19 response revealed that organizations such as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and local governments announced their stances on quarantine guidelines like mask-wearing and vaccinations without coordination, leading to confusion.
The audit also found that unclear responsibilities between the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency delayed contracts with pharmaceutical companies regarding vaccine acquisition.
In response, the Board of Audit and Inspection notified each organization to prepare improvement plans for future infectious disease outbreaks.
