The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will switch from annually disclosing government advertising execution details to a monthly basis. Starting from the 30th of this month, the Ministry announced on the 28th that it would release the previous month’s government advertising execution details at the end of every month on the government advertising integrated support system website. This change is part of efforts to enhance transparency in government advertising, and it forms a key implementation task of the government promotion efficiency improvement measures discussed in cabinet meetings in August and December of last year.
Since the enactment of the ‘Government Advertisement Act’ in 2018, the Ministry first publicly disclosed three years’ worth of government advertising execution details (2019-2021) in 2022. Previously, these details were disclosed annually in June for the previous year. However, moving forward, the disclosure frequency will significantly increase to a monthly basis. As a result, on January 30th, the details for December of the previous year, 2025, will firstly be disclosed, followed by sequential disclosures of each previous month’s details at the end of each month, starting from February.
The convenience of accessing and using this data for citizens has also been improved. Previously, multiple steps were needed on the website to check government advertising execution details. Now, with a dedicated banner on the homepage, relevant data can be accessed immediately. There is no need for membership registration or login; anyone can freely check the government advertising execution status.
Moreover, a new menu called ‘Easy-to-see Statistics’ has been established to help the public understand the data more intuitively, moving away from a simple list format. Visualized data will also be provided. Details such as the amount spent on advertising by media type at central government departments, which previously required specific detailed searches, will now be summarized for easy viewing.
A policy official from the Ministry stated, “The monthly disclosure of government advertising execution details will serve as an opportunity to enhance public monitoring of promotional budget execution by each agency. We aim to lead central and local government bodies, as well as public institutions, to execute government advertising budgets more efficiently and transparently.”
