Gyeonggi Province Announces Public Recruitment for Private Operators of ‘Pet Maru Memorial Hall’

Gyeonggi Province recently announced that they are publicly recruiting a private operator to manage the “Companion Animal Memorial Hall,” a specialized public pet funeral facility. The memorial hall, named Banryeomaru Memorial Hall, is located in Sanggeo-dong, Yeoju, within Gyeonggi Province. It is a two-story building with a total area of 696.2 square meters and includes facilities such as two animal cremation furnaces, three memorial rooms, a dressing room, and 408 resting places.

This is the first public pet funeral facility in Gyeonggi Province and the second in the nation to receive approval. The contract for managing the memorial hall is set from the date of signing until December 31, 2028, and the first-year management fee will be determined through a bidding process starting at 77.65 million KRW.

Interested bidders must be a corporation or organization that has operated in the pet industry for more than one year within the past ten years and have their main office located in Gyeonggi Province. Before the management contract begins, they must secure at least one person with pet funeral-related qualifications and one with psychological counseling qualifications.

Bidders wishing to participate can register online through the Korea Asset Management Corporation’s OnBid system by 6 PM on February 3. The bid opening will take place on February 4 at 11 AM. Participants are required to pay a bid deposit of at least 10% of their bid amount and submit various documents, including proof of operating experience, credit rating documents, and local tax payment status to the Gyeonggi Province Pet Division.

Further details on the bidding schedule, required documents, and other specifics can be found on OnBid, Nara Marketplace, and the Gyeonggi Province official website.
