North Korea: “Test-fired large-caliber rockets yesterday”… Kim Jong-un observed

North Korea has test-fired a large-caliber rocket artillery system in the presence of Kim Jong-un, the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The report states that the test firing, which was conducted yesterday (27th), aimed to validate the effectiveness of an updated large-caliber rocket artillery system incorporating new technology. Kim expressed satisfaction with the maximized attack capability.

Furthermore, Kim noted that the weapon system is equipped with an autonomous precision-guided flight system that can ignore any external interference, and he self-assessed that no other nation would achieve such technology in the next few years.

He also announced that the upcoming 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party will reveal the next steps in further strengthening the country’s nuclear war deterrent capability.

KCNA did not specify the location of the launch, but they did disclose photos from the test firing, stating that four rocket shells hit a maritime target 358.5 km away from the launch point. The published photos also captured Kim’s daughter, Ju-ae, observing the test firing alongside him.
