**”Selected over 34 new cars and 6 finalists”**
On the 13th, Mercedes-Benz Korea announced that their new electric vehicle, the All-New Electric CLA, was selected as the ‘2026 European Car of the Year’ during an awards ceremony at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium.
The CLA features the in-house developed operating system MB.OS and a next-generation MBUX based on artificial intelligence (AI). The all-electric model boasts an excellent driving range of up to 792 km on a single charge (based on WLTP standards), allowing long-distance travel without concerns. Additionally, leveraging the latest 800V technology, it can travel up to 325 km with just a 10-minute charge.
The CLA has been available in the European market since mid-last year, with planned launches in major markets like the United States. It is expected to be released in the Korean market in the first half of this year.
The ‘2026 European Car of the Year’ evaluation was conducted by a judging panel consisting of 60 leading automotive journalists from 23 countries. The Mercedes-Benz CLA scored a total of 320 points, surpassing 34 new cars and 6 finalists, thereby demonstrating its innovative capabilities.
Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, stated, “It is a very proud moment that the CLA has been named the 2026 European Car of the Year,” adding, “It has proven itself as a ‘game changer’ that offers exceptional efficiency and naturally intuitive intelligent technology, just as our customers who have experienced the vehicle have indicated.”
