“The President on a ‘state visit’ arrives in Beijing… Meeting with compatriots currently underway”

**Anchor’s Comment:**

President Lee Jae-myung has arrived in Beijing for a state visit to China lasting three nights and four days. He is currently attending a meeting with Korean expatriates, marking his first official event in China. Song Joo-young reports from Beijing.

**Reporter:**

President Lee Jae-myung, dressed in a black suit and red tie, steps out of the presidential aircraft, Air Force One, waving in greeting. Accompanied by Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung, he descends the stairs and briefly converses with welcoming officials, including Chinese Minister of Science and Technology, Wang Zhigang.

When presented with a bouquet by a young flower bearer, the presidential couple smiles warmly in response. This visit marks President Lee’s first trip to China since December 2019, following former President Moon Jae-in’s visit, and his first state visit in over eight years since December 2017.

Currently, President Lee is engaged in the meeting with expatriates, which started at 7:30 PM Korean time. He is expected to hear about the challenges faced by local Korean residents and promise government support.

Tomorrow, a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled. This will be their second meeting since the APEC Summit in Gyeongju last November.

“The two leaders will have in-depth discussions on practical measures to address issues of public welfare and peace faced by both countries, building on their conversation in Gyeongju where they agreed to fully restore bilateral relations.”

Discussion points are expected to include easing the “Korean ban,” the structures installed by China in the West Sea, and matters concerning peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

**Standing: Song Joo-young / Reporter (Beijing)**

“In tomorrow’s summit, around 10 MOUs aiming to expand exchanges in economic, industrial, and climate sectors are expected to be signed. However, a joint statement from the Korean and Chinese leaders is unlikely. This is Song Joo-young from MBN News in Beijing.”
