On the 24th (local time), according to the Financial Times, the United States and Ukraine drafted a new peace plan on this day. However, sensitive issues are planned to be decided by the presidents of the two countries. Initially, President Trump pressured Ukraine with a 28-article armistice plan. However, after negotiations with the Ukrainian side on the 23rd, it was reduced to 19 articles.
Serhiy Kyslytsia, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, did not disclose which items were removed. He expressed a positive sentiment about the newly drafted peace plan. Deputy Minister Kyslytsia said, “There is little left from the original peace plan draft,” adding, “We have prepared a sufficiently agreeable position and managed to compromise on some points.” The new peace plan does not include resolutions on major issues such as Russia’s territorial demands and Ukraine’s NATO membership.
The Financial Times reported that these key issues will be directly discussed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and it appears that the U.S. will approach Russia with a new proposal within a few days.
White House spokesperson Caroline Rebitt, in an interview with Fox News, described the new peace plan formulated with Ukraine, stating that they remain hopeful and optimistic that an agreement can be reached.
