LG’s webOS service ‘LG Channels’ revamped… Accelerating global expansion

**New Logo with Overlapping C and H… Illustrating Content and Customer Encounters**
**Navigate Content with ‘OK’ Button… Less Burden for Channel Switching**
**Specialized Services Added for Regions like the US, Europe, Arab World**

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, LG Electronics (066570) has announced a revamp of its independent smart TV platform webOS’s ad-supported free streaming (FAST) service “LG Channel,” introducing a new logo and customer-friendly UX (user experience). The rebranding effort will see the introduction of the new logo in 33 countries globally.

The new logo for LG Channel features a design where the letters C and H overlap, symbolizing the moment when various content and viewers intersect through LG Channel. The company explains that the energetic and lively color scheme and intuitive design transcending nationality and language are intended for effective communication with global customers.

Moreover, LG Electronics is making customer-friendly upgrades across the LG Channel service to allow users to enjoy their desired content more easily and quickly. For example, new functions aim to reduce the fatigue of switching channels and allow users easier access to their preferred channels. By pressing the ‘OK’ button on the remote, users can conveniently check the channel information of what they are currently watching, the overall TV channel guide, and lists of favorite or popular channels, all while continuing to watch their content.

Additionally, LG Electronics is adding region-specific services for global customers. In the US, a new “Upcoming” feature will allow viewers to set reminders and notifications for upcoming content, ensuring sports fans won’t miss the start of games.

In Europe, a “Multi Audio” feature will be offered, allowing users to select their preferred language for viewing content, considering the variety of languages spoken across the region. In the Arab world, a newly designed app interface will be presented for Arabic-speaking viewers, who read text from right to left.

Launched in 2015 in South Korea, the LG Channel embedded in webOS has expanded its service area over the last decade to North America, Europe, and Latin America, and is now available in 33 countries. Users can access the webOS-based service easily without a separate language setting, as it supports languages based on the country. Utilizing LG’s enhanced Magic Remote, users can navigate content intuitively without complex operations.

Cho Byung-ha, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ webOS Platform Business Center, stated, “We aim to revolutionize the viewing experience of our FAST services with the new logo encapsulating the joy unique to LG Channel and the customer-friendly evolved service, enhancing our leadership in the global FAST market.”
