**Institutionalization of 3-Month Parental Leave for All Employees Including Males with Children Under 18 Months**
OCI Group is providing retirement security for employees with three or more children. In a move to address low birth rates and achieve work-life balance, OCI Holdings announced on the 17th that it is introducing a new system to encourage parental leave across its main subsidiaries.
Following the conclusion of the 2025 labor-management negotiations, it will institutionalize the active encouragement of all employees, including men with children under 18 months, to take a 3-month parental leave. In connection with this, new and strengthened multi-child benefits such as retirement security, in-house loans, and childbirth incentives will be implemented from this month.
Despite the male-dominated manufacturing culture, the company aims to actively encourage men’s participation in parental leave and realize sustainable growth for both the company and its employees.
Under the revised Parenting Support Act, both parents can extend their supported leave to up to 18 months by each taking at least 3 months. The company plans to inform employees and support them to fully enjoy the benefits of the amended legislation.
Support measures to address work gaps due to colleagues’ leave have also been prepared. Substitute workers in departments with leave-takers will receive an acting allowance to promote and improve the recognition of parental leave culture.
Additionally, multiple-child benefits are reinforced. Employees with three or more children will have their retirement age (60) guaranteed, and they can receive housing loans up to 120 million won at an ultra-low interest rate of 1.0%. The current childbirth incentive is also set to be increased.
An OCI Holdings representative stated, “This system not only formalizes the compulsory use of parental leave in line with the amended legislation but also focuses on providing practical support so employees can fully enjoy the related benefits. For households with a single income or those involved in key projects where work interruption is difficult, the usage period has been extended to 36 months as an exception to enhance system flexibility.”
Moreover, OCI Group is implementing various family-friendly welfare systems, including a new marriage fund loan of up to 20 million won at a low interest rate of 2.0%.
Notably, congratulatory gifts are provided for pregnancies and childbirths. The “OCI Love” program shares the experiences of senior employees with those returning from parental leave, while the family psychological counseling program “Our Family Fish Project” offers opportunities for strengthening bonds among family members. Additionally, the flexible commuting system helps to reduce the burden of children’s school commutes and hospital visits.
Meanwhile, by the end of 2023, OCI Holdings and its business company OCI Co., Ltd. received family-friendly certification from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, valid from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2026, demonstrating their commitment to family-friendly management.
