Singer Ivy shed tears while mourning a close friend who passed away after a 5-year battle with cancer. On the 11th, Ivy used her social media account to remember the times she spent with her friend, whom she often met during breaks from her musical theater work, and to wish her friend’s soul peace.
Ivy wrote, “My beloved friend Jian unni. You loved pink, loved chatting, loved people, and you loved being on the go even more than I did; you were the most energetic person I knew.” She continued, “I recall the day you first called me from the US, in tears, after being diagnosed with cancer. I promised I would help you get better… but I couldn’t keep that promise.”
She added, “You grew up as an only child, loved people, and were always so cheerful. Of all the people I knew, you were the healthiest. You were so lively and cheerful that people asked, ‘Is she really a cancer patient?’ as you endured bravely for years.”
Reflecting on recent difficulties, Ivy said, “Unni, who began to suffer suddenly this year from pain, side effects of chemotherapy, and malnutrition… you would sleep over at my house, we filmed videos together, and despite being under strong medication, you couldn’t remember having the miso soup and rice I made for you.”
“Those times every Monday without a musical show, visiting restaurants with my family in Yangpyeong, I will miss them so much without you. In difficult times, whenever I moved or had big events, you were the first to rush and help me. You were such a significant part of my life. That’s why I missed nothing from your last moments to your funeral process, as you were present in much of my life, I wanted to be with you until the end.”
Ivy promised to look after her friend’s family, saying, “Unni, did you leave on my birthday so you could ask me for this favor? I understand.”
In conclusion, Ivy wrote, “When we meet again, let’s eat your favorite meat to our hearts’ content! Chat eternally with the angels in heaven. We saw each other every week, but I miss you again. I usually can’t express this well, but today I have to say it. My unni with a heart too pure and kind, I miss you so much! I love you, Choi Jian. Goodbye, unni.”
Meanwhile, Ivy, originally a singer, is currently active as a musical actress.
