**Suspicions of Intentional Exclusion of Real Estate Statistics**
Kim Yoon-duk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, has been accused of intentionally excluding September real estate statistics when announcing the October 15 measures.
On the 9th, Seoul City Council member Lee Jong-bae, from the People Power Party, filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against Minister Kim on charges of falsifying official documents, exercising them, and abusing power.
Councilman Lee stated, “If the September statistics had been included, five districts including Dobong, Eunpyeong, Jungnang, Gangbuk, and Geumcheon would have been excluded from the regulated areas,” and demanded a thorough investigation to determine if the omission was intentional.
Earlier, on the 5th, Chun Haram, the floor leader of the Reform Party, held a press conference claiming that the nationwide housing price trend survey for September was scheduled to be announced on the day of the October 15 policy announcement. He alleged, “The government already predetermined to include the entire Seoul area as regulated zones, and excluded the disadvantageous September data that did not match the conclusion, selectively using only data up to August.”
Minister Kim countered these allegations on the 7th during a comprehensive policy inquiry by the Special Committee on Budgets and Accounts at the National Assembly, stating, “The measures had been prepared since before the Chuseok holiday, before the September statistics were released.”
