Suspects accused of participating in romance fraud scams in Cambodia appeared in court for their warrant hearings.

The Uijeongbu District Court issued arrest warrants for ten of the repatriated suspects, citing concerns they might flee.
Previously, forty-five individuals under investigation by the Chungnam Police Agency were detained en masse.
Additionally, the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency secured twelve individuals, and the Daejeon Police Agency along with the Gimpo Police Station each secured one suspect.
Out of the sixty-four repatriated, fifty-nine, or 92%, are detained for further investigation.
Excluding four released by the police and one whose warrant was rejected at the prosecution stage, nearly all are effectively detained.
As a result, the investigation into the overall Cambodian situation is also gaining speed.
These individuals are accused of committing various online frauds, including voice phishing, romance scams, and operating trading rooms from a crime complex in Cambodia.
The police, focusing on the Gyeonggi Northern and Chungnam agencies as key centers, plan to thoroughly investigate their entry and exit processes and the status of the crime complex.
Moreover, they aim to uncover the full extent of the crime by verifying whether the suspects suffered kidnapping or confinement and investigating the manpower supply and broker organizations.
