“48 Suspects in ‘Cambodia Repatriation’ Case Arrested… 10 Under Review Today”

[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Lee Soo-jung – Of the suspects repatriated from Cambodia, arrest warrants have been requested for 58 out of which 48 have been detained. The remaining 10 are scheduled for pre-arrest hearings (warrant review) on the 21st in the morning and afternoon.

The National Police Agency announced through a press release this morning, “Pre-arrest hearings for a total of 48 people were completed yesterday, and arrest warrants were issued for all 48 individuals.”

Among the 64 repatriated individuals, excluding one who was already arrested, four who were not requested by police, and one not requested by prosecution, arrest warrants had been requested for a total of 58 individuals.

Specifically, arrest warrants have been issued for all 45 individuals under the investigation by the Chungnam Police Agency. They are accused of participating in activities such as leading rooms, voice phishing, and no-show scams from the end of 2024 to last July.

Regarding the 15 individuals involved in romance scams within the Cambodian crime zones under the Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency’s investigation, arrest warrants were requested for 11.

Among four individuals for whom arrest warrants were not requested, one had already had a warrant issued, and three were released.

Of the 11 individuals for whom arrest warrants were requested, one already received a warrant by today.

The remaining 10 individuals are scheduled for warrant review hearings at Uijeongbu Court today at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. The decision on their detention is expected late tonight.

The Daejeon Police Agency filed for an arrest warrant for one individual accused of voice phishing in March 2023, and the Gyeonggi Southern Kimpo Police filed for one accused of gift card and arranged meeting fraud from October 2024 to June 2025. The prosecution has issued arrest warrants for all of these cases.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Seodaemun Police Station applied for an arrest warrant for one individual charged with investment leading fraud from July to September. However, the prosecution did not proceed, leading to their release.

The Gangwon Wonju Police did not apply for an arrest warrant and released one individual involved in an acquaintance fraud case.
