Samsung Electronics Hosts ‘2025 Excellent Technology Seminar’

On the 15th, at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi-do, Samsung Electronics held the ‘2025 Excellent Technology Seminar’ where company representatives and participants from partner companies engaged in free patent transfer consultations.

Samsung Electronics is set to transfer 253 patents in the fields of display, mobile, home appliances, communication, and network to partner companies free of charge.

The event, co-hosted by Samsung Electronics along with the Ministry of Science and ICT’s COMPA and the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Agency (KISTA), was attended by over 250 participants, including executives and researchers from 104 partner companies and 45 technology cooperation institutions. The seminar introduced excellent technologies owned by domestic universities, research institutions, and companies to partner companies and provided technology consultation opportunities.

Participating partner companies could timely secure necessary technologies through the event and learn about various R&D support programs provided by government agencies, which could be beneficial for technology acquisition and product mass production. This year, 111 excellent technologies in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), smart manufacturing, technology protection, and industrial safety were introduced.

Samsung Electronics set up a dedicated booth to provide consultations related to free patent transfers.

Since 2015, Samsung Electronics has been offering its patents for free, allowing not only partner companies but also companies with no current business transactions with Samsung to utilize them freely. Up to last year, over 2,300 patents have been transferred for free. Additionally, tailored consultation opportunities such as an ESG fund for partner companies have been provided.

Um Jae-hoon, Vice President of the Samsung Electronics Win-Win Cooperation Center, stated, “We will continue to provide various support to ensure that our partner companies can achieve sustainable growth through industry-academia-research cooperation in AI, smart manufacturing, and other fields.”
