The phenomenon of export concentration in our country is the most severe among the world’s top ten exporting countries. According to an assessment of export concentration among these countries conducted by the Korea International Trade Association’s International Trade and Commerce Research Institute, South Korea’s concentration index is higher than that of Japan, indicating that exports are heavily focused on specific countries.
South Korea also recorded the highest concentration index for export items. The Trade Association emphasized that in order to respond to the uncertainties in the changing trade environment, diversifying exports to emerging markets and new industries is essential.
