POSCO Group to Hire 15,000 People Over Five Years; Expands Safety and R&D

[Seoul Economic Daily]

POSCO Group will create 15,000 jobs for young people over the next five years. The annual hiring size will also be expanded to around 3,000 this year.

POSCO Group announced on the 18th that it will increase the group’s new hiring size from the existing 2,600 to 3,000 this year.

The group intends to maintain the overall new hiring scale at a level similar to this year through expanded recruitment in areas such as safety, artificial intelligence (AI), and research and development (R&D) in the coming years. Over the next five years, they plan to create 15,000 quality jobs.

POSCO Group has primarily conducted public recruitment through POSCO and POSCO International (047050), but from next year, they plan to expand the participating companies in the group recruitment to provide more young people with fair competition opportunities.

In addition to these efforts, POSCO Group is running several programs to improve young people’s competencies. Since 2019, it has operated the ‘Youth AI & Big Data Academy’ in collaboration with the government and private sector, supporting around 1,400 young job seekers in building their AI and big data utilization skills and practical experience over six years. Among them, about 800 have successfully found employment.

POSCO Group plans to continue supporting practical job education for young people through various measures, such as expanding employment support programs and internship systems, contributing to sustainable youth job creation.

A POSCO Group official stated, “Providing stable jobs that give hope to young people is an important social responsibility of companies,” adding, “We will contribute to national and regional development by offering hope to young people through fair recruitment and nurturing future talents.”
