**Kia PV5, Volvo XC60, and BMW New iX as Competitors**
**Praised for Interior and Exterior Design as well as Safety**
[Herald Economy = Reporter Seo Jae-geun] The Korea Automobile Journalists Association (KAJA) announced on the 4th that it has selected the Renault Korea Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric (hereafter Scenic E-Tech) as the car of the month for September.
The Car of the Year Selection Committee, under the Korea Automobile Journalists Association, conducts evaluations each month on new and modified car models released from the first to the end of the month to announce the car of the month.
The evaluation categories consist of five parts: ▷Interior and exterior design and emotional quality ▷Safety and convenience features ▷Power performance ▷Energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions ▷Marketability and purchase intent.
Among the new cars introduced last month, Kia PV5, Renault Korea Scenic E-Tech, the new Volvo XC60, BMW New iX, BYD Seal, Audi The New Audi A6 e-tron, and Porsche New 911 GT3 were nominated for the car of the month for September. After a fierce competition, the Scenic E-Tech scored 37.7 out of 50 points and was finally selected as the car of the month.
The Scenic E-Tech scored 7.7 points each in the categories of interior and exterior design and emotional quality, safety and convenience features, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions, and marketability and purchase intent, and scored 7 points in power performance.
Jung Chi-yeon, the Chairman of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, stated, “The Renault’s all-electric SUV, Scenic E-Tech, based on an EV-dedicated platform, features brisk driving performance, distinctive safety technology reflecting the ‘Human First’ philosophy, and ample interior space,” and added, “Having been recognized for its marketability by winning the 2024 European Car of the Year, it is expected to establish itself as a competitive model in the Korean market.”
Meanwhile, the Korea Automobile Journalists Association has been selecting and announcing the car of the month since 2019, and last month Audi’s The New Audi A5 was selected as the car of the month. Vehicles selected as the car of the month are given the privilege of proceeding directly to the first round of final evaluation, bypassing the semiannual evaluations of the Car of the Year.
