Kyungpook National University to Select 4,510 Students for 2026 Academic Year Early Admissions

Kyungpook National University announced that for the 2026 academic year, it will select 4,510 students through early admissions, which is 81.2% of the total recruitment size of 5,554 students.

The number of positions available by selection type includes 2,134 for the academic record-based selection, 1,621 for the comprehensive selection, 554 for the essay-based selection, 190 for the practical performance selection, and 11 for the athletic specialty selection.

From the 2026 academic year, the university will lift the previous restriction that allowed only graduates from the last three academic years to apply for the academic excellence track and the local talent basic livelihood recipients track in the academic record-based selection. Now, anyone can apply regardless of their high school graduation year.

Additionally, the criteria for taking the College Scholastic Ability Test will be relaxed. The requirement for designated categories in math, social studies, and science inquiry will be removed for all departmental units except for the Mobile Engineering major, and a new practical performance selection will be introduced for the Physical Education major.

The academic record-based selection will be based on 80% of the student’s school record and 20% on document evaluation. The grades from the first semester of the third year will be considered for both graduates and prospective graduates, without weighting by school year.

For both the humanities and natural sciences streams, the school subjects considered will be Korean, mathematics, English, social studies, science, and Korean history.

Departments like the College of Ecology and Environment, the College of Science and Technology, and the Autonomous Future Human Resources Department will consider the 10 subjects with the highest grades from among Korean, mathematics, English, social studies, science, and Korean history.

Unlike the comprehensive selection process, the document evaluation will assess the basic completion of school subjects and the appropriateness of subject completion by academic track.
