Hanwha secures Korea’s first ‘Mandarin Oriental’ hotel in the northern area of Seoul Station redevelopment.

Hanwha has announced an exciting development in the Seoul Station North redevelopment project. The luxury hotel brand ‘Mandarin Oriental’ has been selected as the hotel partner for this venture. The two companies have signed an operations agreement, and the new hotel is slated to open in 2030 with 128 rooms and suites, named ‘Mandarin Oriental Seoul’.

This marks Mandarin Oriental’s debut in the Korean market, although they already operate 44 hotels and 12 residences globally in locations such as Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York, and Paris. The choice to enter the Korean market reflects the symbolic and future value of Seoul Station’s geographic and cultural significance.

The new hotel, located in the northern area of Seoul Station, will offer a private club-like atmosphere with serene and cozy settings. Andre Fu, an internationally renowned architect and designer, will be responsible for the interior design, aiming to capture the elegance of Seoul.

The hotel will feature international dining options, including Korean and Chinese restaurants, allowing guests to enjoy Mandarin Oriental’s culinary experiences while taking in the panoramic views of downtown Seoul. A four-story spa and wellness area will offer unique experiences inspired by Korean traditional culture. Additional facilities will include a swimming pool, fitness center, golf academy, and exclusive outdoor terraces. Multi-purpose banquet and meeting facilities will cater to global business needs.

According to a representative from the Seoul Station North redevelopment SPC, this project will enhance Seoul’s urban competitiveness and brand value, marking it as a landmark project that will change the city’s future. The collaboration with Mandarin Oriental is seen as a chance to offer new luxury hospitality experiences.

The project aims not only to develop the site but also to redesign the architecture and functionality of Seoul’s urban center, spanning approximately 30,000㎡ with a total floor area of 340,000㎡, comprising 6 basement floors and 39 above-ground floors. It will consist of five buildings hosting MICE facilities, prime offices, hotels, residences, commercial, and cultural spaces.
