[Edaily’s Kim Min-jung] It appears that North Korea’s Labor Party General Secretary Kim Jong-un attended the 80th anniversary parade of China’s Victory Day with his daughter, Ju-ae.
The National Intelligence Service stated on the 2nd, “Chairman Kim seems to have visited China accompanied by his daughter, Kim Ju-ae,” adding, “We are closely monitoring Kim Ju-ae’s activities.”
Chairman Kim departed from Pyongyang in his private train the previous day and arrived at Beijing Station in China at around 4 p.m. that day.
In photos captured by China’s Xinhua News Agency, a figure presumed to be Kim Ju-ae was spotted behind Chairman Kim upon arrival. Although only half of her face was visible, her height was similar to Kim Jong-un’s, and Choe Son-hui, the North Korean Foreign Minister, was seen next to the presumed Kim Ju-ae.
However, Kim Jong-un’s wife, Ri Sol-ju, was not seen.
While Ri has accompanied Kim Jong-un on three previous trips to China, this is the first time Kim Jong-un has brought his daughter along.
Chairman Kim is expected to attend the Victory Day parade on the 3rd. He is likely to observe the parade from the Tiananmen gate with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
