North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who departed yesterday (the 1st) by a special train to attend the 80th anniversary event of China’s Victory Day, crossed the border early this morning, according to the Rodong Sinmun today.
The newspaper added that Kim’s visit to Beijing is accompanied by top party and government officials, including Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui. It did not disclose whether his wife Ri Sol-ju or daughter Ju-ae accompanied him.
It is unusual for North Korea to publicly reveal an overseas trip of its supreme leader right after departure.
Kim’s train is expected to arrive in Beijing today.
Kim will attend the 80th-anniversary military parade event of China’s Victory Day in Beijing on the 3rd, along with Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
