Although it’s still hot, the heatwave is gradually easing as we have passed the seasonal point of ‘Ipchu’. Many areas are now free from tropical nights since ‘Ipchu’. In Seoul, the minimum temperature was 24°C, which is below the tropical night standard of 25°C. However, heat wave warnings remain in effect in the southern regions and Jeju Island, and during the day, areas like Gurye and Daegu in Jeollanam-do could reach 33°C, leading to humid and high perceived temperatures.
It’s expected to rain this weekend, primarily in the southern regions. Especially from tomorrow afternoon, some southern areas could experience heavy rainfall at a rate of 30 to 50 mm per hour, with total accumulated rainfall expected to exceed 150 mm. This is due to a stationary front formed by a collision between cold air from the north and hot, humid air from the south.
Next week, due to the influence of this stationary front, there will be frequent rain. On Monday, rain is predicted for the southern regions, and by Tuesday, it could spread nationwide. On Wednesday and Thursday, rain is expected to mainly occur in the central regions.
Today, there are some places in Gangwon and parts of Gyeongbuk that might experience showers. The daytime temperature in Seoul, Daejeon, and Gwangju will be 32°C, similar to yesterday. The sea waves will rise relatively high, up to 2.5 meters off the coast of the southern seas. This has been your weather update.
