[Reporter Lee So-hyun of Edaily] Webtoon Entertainment, the parent company of Naver Webtoon, announced on the 7th that it successfully concluded its participation in the “LA Anime Expo 2025” held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the U.S. from the 3rd to the 6th (local time).
The LA Anime Expo, the largest animation event in North America, is an offline exhibition showcasing various content such as animation, comics, and games. This year, for the first time, Webtoon Entertainment operated an independent booth under the theme “Where the Story Begins,” marking its official outreach to North American fans.
At the Webtoon Entertainment booth, large LED screens showcased ongoing animation projects. Prominent displays featured posters of confirmed animation projects such as “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” “Mercenary Enrollment,” and “Eleceed.” The booth also offered experiential content like exhibition elements utilizing familiar local webtoon IPs and webtoon character photo booths.
Notably, SIU, creator of “Tower of God,” held his first official signing event with North American fans at the show. SIU expressed, “It was a very joyful and thankful experience to communicate directly with North American fans.”
In collaboration with the global animation streaming platform Crunchyroll, a special screening of the “Clavates” animation from the Line Manga IP was held, and a behind-the-scenes video of the “Eleceed” animation production was unveiled for the first time.
Additionally, the panel talk “Discussing the Future of Animation and Webtoons” featured Webtoon Entertainment’s Animation Director Brennan Loftus, U.S.-based webtoon artist Brandon Chen, and Heather Horn, a producer from Crunchyroll. They discussed the production of animations based on webtoon IPs and trends in the global content market.
Kim Yong-soo, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Naver Webtoon and head of the global webtoon business, said, “This was an opportunity to reaffirm the global expansion potential of webtoon IPs. We will continue to strengthen our presence in the North American market through various partnerships and innovations.”
