Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has announced that he is creating a new party. He stated that he wants to return freedom to Americans, and named the party the “America Party.” This decision followed a conflict with President Trump over tax cut policies.

This is a post by Elon Musk on his platform, X, on the 5th, local time.

Musk wrote, “You want a new party by a 2 to 1 margin, and you shall have it.”

He also announced, “Today, the ‘America Party’ is being established to return freedom to you.”

The day before, Musk conducted a poll on X regarding the creation of the new party, which resulted in 65% in favor and 35% against.

Musk emphasized, “Speaking of bankrupting our country with waste and corruption, we live not in a democracy but a ‘one-party state.'”

He criticized both major US parties, the Republicans and Democrats, as essentially being the same.

Musk actively supported President Trump in the last election and was even appointed as the head of governmental efficiency shortly after the election, marking him as one of Trump’s closest allies.

However, Musk began publicly opposing a bill that included Trump’s tax cuts and large-scale spending plans, leading to a rift between the two.

Tensions escalated to the point where President Trump even mentioned deporting Musk. Once the bill took effect, it seems Musk decided to announce the establishment of a new party.

It is interpreted that Musk aims to secure a certain number of seats in the midterm elections next November and play the role of a casting vote to block President Trump’s unilateral passing of bills.

However, the Washington Post predicted that “Musk’s new party will face multiple hurdles, including the structural preference for a two-party system,” and expressed skepticism about the success of a third party.
