(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Yullip – At around 7:50 AM on the 4th, both directions of trains came to a halt at Seoul National University Station on Seoul Subway Line 2, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Seoul Metro stated, “There was a disruption in train operations due to a mismatch in the track switch for both the inner and outer circle trains,” and added, “By 8:09 AM, measures were taken, and the trains are now moving slowly.” A track switch is a signaling device that adjusts the direction of incoming trains.
Office worker Kim Young-soo (36), who was waiting for a Line 2 train at Seocho Station, told Yonhap News, “The train seemed to have stopped for about 20 minutes. People were lined up to the stairs,” adding, “I needed to transfer to the Shinbundang Line at Gangnam Station but missed the train I usually take, so I am now very late.”
Lee (30), who was on a train at Jamsil Station, said, “The train remained with its doors open for over 10 minutes,” and added, “The train was too hot and overcrowded.”
