[SC Review] Wax♥Lee Hyung-chul Confirm Mutual Feelings: “Mutual Attraction Confession” (‘Old Love Pursuit 2’)

Reporter An So-yun from Sports Chosun: The second season of ‘Old Love Pursuit’ has opened a new romance.

On the 16th, ‘Old Love Pursuit 2’ (referred to as ‘OMP’) aired on KBS Joy, KBS2, and GTV, marking its official start with new cast members such as Lee Hyung-chul, Lee Ki-chan, Park Kwang-jae, Lee Sang-jun, Wax, Park Eun-hye, Shin Bong-sun, and Kang Se-jung. Diverse talents from comedians to actors and singers gathered to reignite the sparks within longstanding connections.

All cast members expressed their desire to communicate with people and escape loneliness through ‘OMP’. Although their reasons for joining were slightly different, they all shared a yearning for new relationships.

The introduction, which began with shyness, was filled with surprising moments. Comedian Shin Bong-sun, wishing to approach as ‘woman’ Shin Bong-sun rather than a comedian, asked to be called by her real name, Shin Min-a. She also shared her passion for sports like swimming and tennis, and showcased her feminine charm by skillfully peeling an apple.

Actor and former basketball player Park Kwang-jae introduced himself as a man who wouldn’t let his woman starve, asserting that while he may have lost his naivety, he retains his purity. He also drew attention by revealing his advanced cooking skills, able to make Pyongyang naengmyeon at home.

Park Eun-hye disclosed her past marriage and eight-year period being single. She expressed her hope of finding a long-term connection through ‘OMP’, mentioning her love for camping.

Actor Lee Hyung-chul boasted of his versatile skills, including a skin scuba business and various hobbies outside his acting career, while singer Wax surprised viewers with her bright, lively personality and Pilates certification.

Lee Ki-chan, appearing on a dating show for the first time in 23 years, expressed his attraction to emotional people and his desire to break out of his reclusive shell by mingling with long-time colleagues, humorously utilizing outdated terms like ‘match-making shows’ and ‘real cameras’.

Actress Kang Se-jung showcased her diverse charm, being a former idol, current Pilates instructor, and fluent Japanese speaker. She caught attention with her genuine passion for sports such as wakeboarding, skin scuba, paragliding, and flying yoga. Meanwhile, comedian Lee Sang-jun candidly admitted that hearing the introductions changed his preconceptions, as he had never dated an older woman before.

As the awkwardness faded, the cast members began to open up to each other. Honest expressions of emotions like feeling thrilled and nostalgic about forgotten emotions brought excitement to the viewers as well.

Particularly, the mutual interest in Lee Hyung-chul’s skin scuba business and Wax’s varied exercise experiences created a natural bond. In the first choice session, Wax rekindled Lee Hyung-chul’s candle through their shared interest in skin scuba, and after much contemplation, Lee chose Wax as well. Their mutual attraction piqued curiosity about who the other cast members showed interest in.

The preview at the end of the broadcast heightened viewers’ expectations. The results of the first meeting vote revealed that while some cast members received more than two votes, others received none, creating a tension-filled atmosphere.

Additionally, the start of the late-night date and arrival of the first date mission left the cast members flustered, sparking anticipation over whether the sparks of genuine connection will be reignited among the ‘old encounters’. Viewers are looking forward to next week’s ‘OMP’.

Meanwhile, ‘OMP’ Season 2 airs every Monday at 9:50 PM simultaneously on KBS Joy, KBS2, and GTV.
