Hermione with big front teeth and red-haired Ron… New ‘Harry Potter’ leads revealed

The child actors cast as the lead trio in the “Harry Potter” TV series have been revealed.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced on the 27th (local time) that Dominic McLaughlin has been chosen for the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton for Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout for Ron Weasley in the HBO original “Harry Potter” TV series.

Co-producers Francesca Gardner and Mark Mylod remarked, “The talent of these three actors is truly amazing,” adding, “The world will witness the magic they create together on screen.”

J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series, first published in 1997, became a global phenomenon and was adapted into movies, plays, games, theme parks, and merchandise. The main actors in the 2000 movie series, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, also enjoyed international fame.

The “Harry Potter” TV series, an HBO original produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, will be available on the streaming service Max in 2026. It is expected to have seven seasons, corresponding to the seven books of the original series.

According to Hollywood publication Variety, more than 30,000 children auditioned after HBO started an open casting call in the UK and Ireland last fall. The selected actors are mostly newcomers with little experience in major projects.
