SKT, hacking incident victims among dealerships granted 3-month loan repayment deferment

On the 5th, a notice announcing the suspension of new subscriptions was posted at an SK Telecom branch in Seoul. SK Telecom announced on the 15th that due to the hacking incident, they would defer the repayment of principal and interest on loans for three months to assist franchise owners affected by the suspension of new subscriptions and number portability at approximately 2,600 locations nationwide.

During a daily briefing held at Samhwa Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, SK Telecom stated that starting this weekend, around 870,000 replacement SIM cards would be delivered. By early next week, more than 1 million SIM card stocks are expected to be secured. Furthermore, they plan to enhance employee training on SIM card replacement and system reset processing, as well as increase on-site support personnel.

On the 14th alone, 90,000 people replaced their SIM cards, bringing the total number of SIM card replacements to 1.78 million. Currently, approximately 6.99 million subscribers have made reservations for SIM card replacements. Since the initiation of the SIM resetting option on the 12th, 57,000 people have opted in.

SK Telecom is in the process of forming a Customer Trust Recovery Committee to address the situation, and they are promoting the objective participation of top experts, including representatives from overseas telecommunications companies.
