A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s arrested for demanding money, claiming “Son Heung-min impregnated my child.”

Son Heung-min’s side: “Clearly false information… Filed a complaint with the police”

On May 15, it was reported that individuals who falsely claimed to be pregnant with Son Heung-min’s child and demanded money in exchange for not revealing this information were caught by the police.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that they had arrested a woman in her 20s, A, and a man in his 40s, B, on charges of extortion and attempted extortion. According to the police, last June, A claimed she was pregnant with Son Heung-min’s child and demanded billions of won in exchange for not disclosing this. B, a friend of A, also attempted to extort money from Son Heung-min’s side this March. Both individuals are known to be acquaintances.

Son Heung-min’s side filed extortion charges against them on the 7th, and the police obtained arrest warrants on the 12th and apprehended them the following day. The police are investigating the specific details of the case.

Son Heung-min’s agency, ‘Son & Football Limited,’ stated on their official website on the 15th, “We have filed extortion charges with the police against the individuals who threatened to spread false information about the player,” and added, “We will take strong legal action to ensure those who have attempted extortion with clear falsehoods are punished without leniency.”

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised that this incident might affect Son Heung-min’s performance ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League (UEL) final. Tottenham, which has not won a major trophy for 17 years, is desperately seeking victory this time. Son Heung-min, who recently returned after a nine-game injury hiatus, is gearing up for the final and expressed his strong desire to win the Europa League in a recent interview.
