[Breaking News] Legislation and Judiciary Committee Passes Amendment to Election Law Removing ‘Act’ from Requirements for False Information Disclosure

A plenary session of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, led by the Democratic Party of Korea, passed an amendment to the Public Official Election Act to modify the false information disclosure clause.

The key aspect of this amendment is the removal of the word “act” from the requirements of constituting false information disclosure under Article 250.

Previously, on the 1st, the Supreme Court had interpreted Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung’s remarks about “golf” and “Baekhyun-dong” as false information disclosure related to an “act” under the Public Official Election Act.
